This paper demonstrates the development of a sensitive, cell-free biosensor for the detection of proteins such as SARS antigens or biomarkers in human samples. It’s modularity and adaptability to new protein targets for detection could enable simpler ELISA-type assays, in the field biosensor deployment, and point-of-care diagnostics. The authors used both an in-house cell-free system and our myTXTL system to demonstrate that this biosensor technology is compatible with off-the-shelf commercial kits readily available to any lab.
